0-2 Year Olds
(Baby Room)

Our baby area can accommodate up to 9 babies between the ages of 3 months to 2 years. The area consists of a large open space, where the children can move safely and freely. The environment is carefully planned and is a calm, nurturing and natural area in which the children can explore and thrive. With the resources and care given by our practitioners we aim to develop language and ignite curiosity that will lay the foundations for early learning and development.

We also have a separate dedicated sleep room and changing area. Each child has a cot with clean linen.

Our staff are trained to meet the individual health, care and development needs of the children. Staff will work in partnership with Parents to ensure that children settle into Nursery quickly and positively and aim to follow home routines where possible.

Care routines, such as nappy changing, are carried out throughout the day with patience and kindness as our Practitioners and children develop secure and nurturing relationships.

As part of our curriculum, we embed key features that create the natural rhythm of the day in the Baby room. Practitioners use a range of varied language and ensure that this is clearly modelled and repeated, as well as regular singing and storytelling. Messy and sensory experiences are also provided daily. The children are encouraged and supported to use all of their senses to explore a range of textures using objects such as jelly, slime, foam, flour, pasta, and much more. The children are also offered imaginative mark-making experiences, and daily sand and water exploration.

Outdoor play is vital for a baby’s development and children will have access to our outdoor play space each day. The area consists of a range of resources such as messy trays, a sand and water station, a mark-making zone, mirrors and a range of toys to promote and develop gross motor skills.

Healthy, locally sourced foods are provided each day, including a wide range of vegetable and fruit purees. Snacks and mealtimes are a social occasion where children are encouraged to be independent. Staff work closely with families and children when weaning, following their chosen technique and pace.

We fully support breast feeding mothers and will always work with you to ensure the best possible care for your child.

We recognise that every child develops at different rates, so we do not have set expectations for when a child should start potty training. Our practitioners are always ready to work in partnership with parents and can offer support and guidance when you feel your child is ready for this next step.
